Come help us celebrate our 7th Anniversary of becoming an Affirming Congregation of the United Church of Canada!  We are excited to have Jenson Brown as our speaker for this Sunday.  As always there is Sunday School for the children and coffee after the service.  This week there is rainbow cake to share as well.  We hope you can join us for this service.

Love, Allyship, and the Wilderness

When I first read Isaiah 43:16–21, what struck me wasn’t just the poetry of “a way in the wilderness” or “rivers in the desert”, it was the promise held within the lines; the promise that even when the road ahead seems dry, unclear, or heavy with resistance, something new is continually unfolding. Something holy. Something brave.

That promise, and others like it, has stayed with me over the years of walking alongside various groups working to affirm and advocate for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. For me, and many who walk this journey, affirmation is not a destination; it’s a practice. It’s the movement from passive welcome to active love. It’s about living with courage and making sure everyone knows they are already enough. It’s about being a good human no matter your origins, the colour of your skin, your beliefs, your background, or how you identify.

I am so honoured and humbled to be invited to join you in celebrating seven years as an Affirming congregation. That’s seven years of building rivers where deserts once were and helping people find a path out of isolation, shame, and silence and into a sacred community. I can hardly wait to celebrate with all of you over how far you’ve come and to bear witness as you recommit to the journey ahead!
