All are welcome to join us for Sunday service on November 23, 2025 at 10 am. We celebrate baptisms and member transfers on Sunday. There will be Sunday School during the service and coffee afterwards. We hope you can join us.

Here are Rev. Marlene’s thoughts on the scriptures for Sunday.

“For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things.” Colossians 1:19-20

Don’t be surprised if Colossians strikes you as vaguely familiar.  More than half of its’ verses have close parallels in Ephesians.  The cities of Colossae and Ephesus were neighbours in Paul’s day. Paul, who had never visited Colossae, writes this letter to people who know him by reputation only. The letter opens on an optimistic note, with Paul thanking God for the Colossians’ spiritual progress.  Then he brings up a doctrinal flaw that has crept into their church.

Although Paul often launches out into deep water theologically, he always leads his readers back to practical issues: What difference does theology make in daily life? I love that!

One paragraph (verses 15-20) contains a summary of the absolute supremacy of Christ.  Then Paul points us to the practical: Christ’s supreme power does not distance us from God but brings us closer.  Christ alone has the ability to span the vast gap between God and humanity. He is unifier, dwelling place, reconciler, one who sheds his blood on the cross, and the source of peace. As we consider these qualities that are expressed in the kingship of Christ, we are reminded that where the head goes, the body (the Church) is expected to follow.

Life Question: Do you feel “reconciled” to God (verse 22)?  If not, what is keeping you from experiencing the comfort that reconciliation brings?
