This Sunday we welcome Rev. Wendy Galloway to lead our service. As always we start at 10 am and will have Sunday School during the service. Coffee and visiting will follow.
Here are a few thoughts from Rev. Wendy for this Sunday’s service.
Time of Prayer
Find a quiet spot. Breathe. Be still. Take your time.
May this prayer time light and bless your way.
Reverend Wendy
Dear God,
Your world is hurting and it’s almost more than a person can bear. If I wrote a litany of lament, it would circle the earth. The world needs your people to rise up but instead we feel beaten down. Then, we hear the lectionary passage from Luke 6.
Love your enemies,
do good to those who hate you,
bless those who curse you,
pray for those who abuse you.
(Luke 6: 27-28)
Merciful God, I’m not strong enough to love, to bless, to pray unto death as Jesus did but please, give me the strength to begin.
And so, as people have prayed the psalms throughout the centuries, we bring all our prayers to you O God.
We pause to pray for the people we love…
We pause to give voice to and name the pain
that our hearts, minds and body experiences…
We come to you with our deepest fears…
When we feel heard, our burdens feel lighter.
When we give voice to our powerlessness, you gift us with strength.
When we still our noisy minds, we feel your love.
And so, we rise up in thanksgiving and praise. Out of gratitude for each moment we have been given, we will do good and bless and we will pray. In hope, led by your Spirit, we will love those enemies who wish us harm.
Amen
