Long weekend!  Nice weather!  Join us at church for our weekly service!  Rev. Heather Koots is joining us this Sunday.  There is coffee after the service, however there is no Sunday School.  We hope that you can join us on Sunday at 10 am.

Here are Heather’s notes on the reflection for the week:

Scripture is filled with stories and descriptions of bargaining; of people using every trick of persuasion in their power to assure an outcome they hope for. This is perhaps one of the unique traits of our species, (although my dog’s puppy eyes when I’m eating something delicious comes a close second) and the Bible has example after example of the various ways its characters try to persuade God to see things their way and make things right. They cry out, they demand, they threaten, and of course bargain.
The readings for this week touch on this theme as we listen to part of Moses’ story of time in the desert, and then the Canaanite woman whose faith was strong.  These stories contain a theme we don’t often take time to consider, however. What might that be?
