Let’s Celebrate!  Join us for a special service celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the United Church in Canada.  A service with communion followed by fellowship with a sit down lunch.  This all starts at 10 am!

Here are Rev. Marlene’s thoughts on the upcoming service.

Marlene’s Rev. Notes:

“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people.” Ephesians 1:18

The Inaugural Meeting June 10, 1925.

In this week’s scripture, Paul’s prayer challenges us to seek more than just intellectual knowledge of God. It’s an invitation to live with spiritual awareness—seeing life through the lens of God’s calling, understanding our eternal inheritance, and walking in resurrection power. It’s a powerful reminder that our identity and purpose are found in what God has already done for us in Christ.

God is calling us to have courage and trust in this moment in time. As we reflect on the last 100 years of our history, we are called to come back to those roots that caused our founding denominations to move together in hope, joy, and celebration to become The United Church of Canada. We are called to rely not on our own ingenuity to solve the problems that lie ahead, but to humbly listen for the Spirit at work in and through the beautiful diversity of voices around Jesus’ banquet table; to allow the Spirit to lead us into a future that will look different from what the past has, because the world around us does not look the same as it did in 1925.

Our challenge is to remain courageous and hopeful as we seek to live the good news, trusting in the Spirit. And we will know that it is the Spirit at work when its’ fruit are made manifest. The Spirit of love, justice, peace, and joy. We are not alone. God is still with this church! So, let us boldly anticipate the future. For 100 years, we give thanks and listen for God’s call for the future to come.             Happy 100th birthday everyone!
